How School Leaders Can Connect Families to the Expanded CTC
Nearly 90% of children across the country are eligible for the expanded Child Tax Credit, which is expected to reduce the number of kids experiencing poverty by more than 40%. While most families get the credit automatically, families that had too little income to file a 2020 or 2019 tax return need to take action to get their credit. For these families, $3000 per child ($3600 for children under 6) can make a significant difference in their children’s well-being.
As trusted community institutions, schools and teachers are especially well-situated to raise awareness among millions of families about the expanded Child Tax Credit and how to claim it. Join the Partnership for America's Children and the Coalition on Human Needs to learn about best practices and resources for helping your districts help families claim this critical benefit. We will also be joined by a school leader about their district's experience conducting CTC outreach to families.
