2024-2025 LWL Spring Meeting and Schaumburg School District 54 Site Visit, April 9-11, 2025

AASA's Leadership for Well-being and Learning Cohort provides a comprehensive approach to supporting the mental, emotional, and academic success of students and staff. 

Hotel Details: The HQ hotel is the Hyatt Regency Schaumburg, Chicago. The address is 1800 East Golf Road, Schaumburg, Illinois 60173. We have a limited number of rooms available at the hotel, so please book your room today. If the hotel block is full prior to March 19th, please email sstjohn@aasa.org and we will attempt to secure more rooms. The room block will expire on March 19th. Learn about the four critical questions of student learning and how they guide collaboration to improve outcomes. Through guided reflection, gain practical strategies to enhance your district work.

AASA extends its sincere gratitude to Andy DuRoss, Superintendent of
Schaumburg School District 54, for serving as our host district, and to the Illinois Association of School Administrators for their support and collaboration. With guidance from Schaumburg School District staff and AASA program leaders — Dawn Bridges, Dan Bridges, and Tobin Novasio — attendees will explore Schaumburg’s strategies for teacher development and retention, learn about the district’s collaboration and action-based learning strategies and their curriculum grounded in positive psychology principles, and examine five key leadership competencies that drive engagement, satisfaction, and organizational success. Participants will have the opportunity to tour schools and see these initiatives in action.

Wednesday, April 9

 

The meeting will begin at the HQ Hotel (to be announced soon). Check-in begins at 2:45 PM, and we will kick off our learning and collaboration at 3:00 PM. We will end our day with a Hors d'oeuvres Reception.

 

Thursday,

April 10

 

We will meet in the lobby at 8:00 AM to travel to Schaumburg School District 54. We will explore Schaumburg’s strategies for teacher development and retention, learn about the district’s collaboration and action-based learning strategies and their curriculum grounded in positive psychology principles, and examine five key leadership competencies that drive engagement, satisfaction, and organizational success. Participants will have the opportunity to tour schools and see these initiatives in action. We will adjourn at 4 and load the bus and travel back to the headquarter hotel. Lunch will be included, and dinner will be on your own to explore the area.

 

 

Thursday,

April 11

 

We will gather in the headquarter hotel lobby at 8:00 AM to depart for Schaumburg School District 54. During our time there, we will continue our learning, and participants will be guided through a collaborative activity to identify key takeaways and set implementation goals, aiming to make a positive impact on their work. The session will conclude at noon, after which we will board the bus for two quick stops: (1) the headquarters hotel and (2) O’Hare Airport. The hotel stop will be brief for unloading purposes only. Luggage can be stored in the bus luggage bay while we are meeting.

 



Traveling by Air: The closest airport is Chicago O'Hare (ORD) Airport.
