Description:

Creating partnerships with parents and caregivers has always been important, but now more than ever, school systems are challenged to bring families into schools as true partners. The Authentic Family Engagement Summit will bring together district and school leaders from across the country to explore current topics and cutting-edge ideas around family engagement.

The Authentic Family Engagement Summit, scheduled for April 25-27, welcomes all participants. This event will include a visit to Niles Township High School District D219, situated approximately 30 miles from downtown Chicago, and catering to the Skokie, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove, and Niles communities. With more than 4,600 students across two high schools, the district stands out for its remarkable diversity, with over 60 percent of students conversing in languages other than English and representing 90 different languages among students and families. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the district's family engagement strategies during this visit.

In addition to the site visit, the summit will feature presentations by Rachel Lloyd-Fowler, Principal, Jefferson Early Learning Center, Moline School District #40; Reyna Hernandez, Senior Director of Research and Policy at NAFSCE; Ryan Hurley, Midwest Regional Deputy Director, Institute for Educational Leadership and the Coalition for Community Schools; Denise Diaz, Director II of the Family Engagement Department’s Engagement Unit, Clark County School District. For all our AASA site visits, we strive to provide attendees with a valuable and empowering experience that equips them to enhance their respective programs upon returning to their districts.

The first day we will be at the Headquarter Hotel beginning at 3:00 PM (2:45 PM Check-in) and ending at 5:30 PM.  The second day we will be spending the day at Niles Township High School District D219 all day.
