Michael J. Burke

The new superintendent in Palm Beach County, Fla., is Michael Burke, who had served since 2006 as the school district’s chief financial officer. He earlier worked for eight years in various budgeting positions in Palm Beach County. Burke is a past chairman of the Florida School Finance Council, on which he has served since 2006. Previously, he was a budget analyst for Broward County Public Schools in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He has been an AASA member since 2021.
 

 
 
 
Jose L. Dotres

Jose Dotres has assumed the superintendency of the 330,000-student Miami-Dade County Public Schools in Miami, Fla., where he began his career in 1988 as an elementary teacher. Dotres comes to Miami from Collier County Public Schools in Naples, Fla., where he was deputy superintendent. He previously held several posts in Miami-Dade, including chief human capital officer. Dotres also was chief academic officer for Broward County Public Schools in Florida. An AASA member since 2021, he has an Ed.D. from St. Thomas University in Miami, Fla.
 
 
 

 
Shawn Greiner

After serving as superintendent for nine years in the Southmont Schools in Crawfordsville, Ind., Shawn Greiner has moved into the top berth in West Lafayette, Ind. In earlier postings, Greiner held multiple principalships in various Indiana districts over 13 years. He serves as a clinical experience supervisor for the American College of Education and began his career as an elementary school teacher in Connersville, Ind., in 1990. He also has been an adjunct professor at American College of Education. An AASA member since 2021, Greiner received his Ph.D. in educational leadership from Indiana State University.
 

 
 
William R. Hite Jr.

William Hite will be the new CEO and president of KnowledgeWorks, a nonprofit based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Hite has been serving as superintendent in Philadelphia, Pa., since 2012. He’s also worked as superintendent of Prince George’s County Public Schools in Maryland and area superintendent for Cobb County Schools in Georgia. He earlier was an administrator in Henrico County, Va., for 20 years. Hite, who holds a doctorate in education from Virginia Tech, has been an AASA member since 2008.
 
 
 

 
Kathryn E. Sheridan

Kathryn Sheridan is the new superintendent for Kildeer Countryside Community Consolidated School District 96 in Buffalo Grove, Ill. She had held several other positions with the district, including director of language and early literacy for five years, principal and assistant principal. In Schaumburg, Ill., Sheridan was an instructional coach for new teachers and a 6th-grade teacher. She is also a consultant and associate for DeEtta Jones and Associates: Next Generation Leadership. Sheridan has been an AASA member since 2019.
 

 


Christopher S. Thompson

The De Pere Board of Education in Wisconsin has selected Christopher Thompson as its new superintendent. He previously was district administrator in the 500-student Rosholt, Wis., district for two years following stints as assistant superintendent and elementary principal. Thompson spent five years as both executive director of curriculum and instruction and directing principal in Racine, Wis. He began his education career as a vocal and general music teacher and chair of the music department in Oak Creek, Wis. An AASA member since 2019, Thompson received his Ed.D. from Edgewood College in Madison, Wis.
