Chuck Marcum

The new chief of staff with the Alabama State Department of Education in Montgomery, Ala., Chuck Marcum, previously served as the superintendent of the 1,600-student Roanoke City Schools in Roanoke, Ala., for 18 years. He also spent four years as principal of Handley High School in Roanoke and 10 years as a social studies teacher in the Roanoke City Schools. He has been a member of AASA for 17 years.
 

 

 

Michael A. Rossi

Michael Rossi is the new superintendent for the 700-student Lenape Valley Regional High School in Stanhope, N.J. Previously, he spent six years as chief school administrator for the Sparta Township School District in Sparta, N.J., and has held superintendencies in Madison, N.J., the Roxbury Township School District in Succasunna, N.J., and Lopatcong, N.J. Rossi began his education career in 1988 as a social studies teacher in Fiskdale, Mass. He serves as an adjunct professor at Centenary University in Hackettstown, N.J. An AASA member since 2007, Rossi holds a Ph.D. from Seton Hall University.
 

 
 
 
 
Anibal Soler

After spending a year as superintendent in Batavia, N.Y., Anibal Soler is the new superintendent of the 9,300-student Schenectady, N.Y., district. He previously worked as associate superintendent of strategic alignment and innovation in the Buffalo Public Schools for two years. Soler has held principalships at North Park Academy, an elementary school in Buffalo, and East High School in Rochester, N.Y. Soler was an academy director at Charlotte High School and an instructional technology teacher over six years in Rochester, N.Y. He began his career teaching middle school art in Rochester, N.Y., in 2000 and has been an AASA member since 2020.
 

 
 
 
Cosimo Tangorra Jr.

Cosimo Tangorra is the new superintendent in New Hartford, N.Y., after serving in the same role in the Central Valley, Niskayuna, Ilion, Trumansburg and Oppenheim-Ephratah districts, all in upstate New York. Tangorra also was a deputy commissioner with the New York State Education Department as well as a principal and special education teacher. A 19-year AASA member, Tangorra received his Ed.D. from Sage Colleges in New York.
 

 

 

Christie Whitbeck-Lazenby

The Fort Bend Independent School District in Sugar Land, Texas, has appointed Christie Whitbeck-Lazenby as its new superintendent. She previously served for four years as superintendent of the 16,000-student Bryan, Texas, School District and four years as deputy superintendent in Fort Bend. A former assistant superintendent in Alvin, she also was the founding principal of a high school, junior high school and elementary school in Katy, Texas. She began her career as a language arts specialist. Recipient of a Ph.D. from Texas A&M, Whitbeck-Lazenby has been an AASA member since 2013.
 




Stacy L. Winslow

The new superintendent of the Derry Township School District in Hershey, Pa., is Stacy Winslow. She previously served in the same school district as the assistant to the superintendent for curriculum, instruction and assessment for seven years. Earlier, Winslow held a variety of positions in Pennsylvania’s Manheim Township School District, including assistant principal, curriculum coordinator, teacher and director of professional development. She started as a middle school teacher in Lancaster, Pa. An AASA member since 2018, she received her Ed.D. in educational leadership and administration from Immaculata University in Immaculata, Pa.
