B. Heston Carnemolla
Avon, Conn., Public Schools has a new superintendent in Bridget Heston Carnemolla, who comes from Watertown, Conn., where she spent about three years as superintendent. She has worked as a principal in Watertown, Conn., Hamden, Conn., and Mid-dletown, Conn., and assistant principal in Hartford, Conn., after beginning her career as a social studies teacher in Bridgeport, Conn. Carnemolla earned her Ed.D. from the University of Connecticut with a dissertation on coaching for instructional leadership. She joined AASA in 2014.
 
 


Yvonne Curtis
After more than eight years as superintendent in Forest Grove, Ore., Yvonne Curtis is now deputy superintendent for instruction and school communities in the Portland, Ore., Public Schools. Curtis previously was director of student engagement in Eugene, Ore., after spending five years as a principal in Redmond, Ore. She began her career as a teacher in San Diego and Santee, Calif., before moving to Bend, Ore. Curtis became a member of AASA in 2009 after earning her Ed.D. from the University of Oregon.




Curtis E. Finch Jr.
Curt Finch has taken the helm of the 34,000-student Deer Valley Unified School District in Phoenix, Ariz. Finch spent the previous 23 years in public school administration in Michigan as a middle school assistant principal, high school principal and superinten-dent, most recently in the Mecosta-Osceola Intermediate School District in Big Rapids, Mich. He began as a secondary school math teacher in Unalaska, Alaska. Finch has been a member of AASA since 1999 and served on the AASA Governing Board for six years. He earned his Ph.D. from Walden University in Minneapolis.

 


Ladarla “Lolli” Haws
The Racine, Wis., Unified School District said farewell to its superintendent of five years, Lolli Haws, who was named chief administrator for Green Hills Area Education Agency in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Haws previously was the instructional superintendent in the District of Columbia Public Schools and a principal in Arlington, Va., and St. Louis, Mo., and earlier directed disabled student services in the St. Louis district. Haws, who joined AASA in 1999, has a Ph.D. in educational administration from St. Louis University. 

 


Gregory C. Hutchings Jr.
After a five-year stint as superintendent of the Shaker Heights, Ohio, City School District, Gregory Hutchings is returning to Alexandria, Va., in the top post. He served as Alexandria’s director of preK-12 initiatives from 2010 to 2013. Hutchings also was a principal in Nashville, Tenn., and Richmond, Va. He earned his Ed.D. in educational policy, planning and leadership from The College of William and Mary. A member of AASA since 2013, he serves as a mentor in the AASA Aspiring Superintendents Academy.




Jack Zamary
Jack Zamary has been promoted from assistant superintendent to superintendent of the Monroe, Conn., Public Schools, where he previously served as director of information technology and operations. Zamary also worked as principal of an elementary school and director of fine arts in Middlebury, Conn. After studying music education in college, Zamary began his career in public education as the band director in several Connecticut schools. He earned his Ed.D. in educational leadership from Southern Connecticut State University in 2012 and became a member of AASA in 2017.
