Mark A. Angle-Hobson
The new education services coordinator for the Southern Oregon Education Service District in Medford, Ore., is Mark Angle-Hobson, who comes from a three-year superintendency and principalship at Douglas County School District in Days Creek, Ore. He previously was student success coordinator at Douglas County and served as principal at three schools in West Virginia and Virginia. He earned his Ed.D. in educational leadership from the University of Virginia. Angle-Hobson has been a member of AASA since 2017.




Kimber L. Halliburton
The Madison County Schools in Ridgeland, Miss., have welcomed Kimber Halliburton as their new superintendent. Halliburton previously served as the first female director of schools for Washington County Schools in Jonesborough, Tenn., after overseeing six schools as a network lead principal in Nashville, Tenn. She also held principal postings at four other schools in Nashville, including Waverly Belmont Elementary School, where she served as the founding principal. Halliburton began her AASA membership in 2016.

 
 

Scott R. Kizner
Stafford County Public Schools in Stafford, Va., has a new superintendent in Scott R. Kizner, who spent the past eight years in the same role at Harrisonburg City Public Schools in Virginia. Prior to coming to Harrisonburg, he served six years as superintendent of Martinsville, Va., City Public Schools following a five-year tenure as superintendent of Rhode Island’s Westerly Public Schools. A 19-year member of AASA, Kizner earned his Ph.D. in student personnel and school psychology from Virginia Tech. Kinzer is a member of the AASA Governing Board.




Kristine K. Morris
Kristine Morris has accepted her first superintendency at Union Elementary School District 62 in Tolleson, Ariz. Morris previously spent eight years as chief deputy superintendent for the Maricopa County Education Service Agency in Phoenix, Ariz., and served as assistant superintendent at Cartwright Elementary School District in Phoenix. She began her career as a biology teacher before working her way up to assistant principal, principal and district administrator at schools throughout Arizona. Morris has been an AASA member since 1997.

 


Robert Picou
After spending the past two decades in Alaska, Louisiana native Rob Picou is returning to the South as superintendent of Mississippi’s Tupelo Public School District. Picou most recently was superintendent at the Lower Yukon School District in Mountain Village, Alaska, and the Bering Strait School District in Unalakleet, Alaska. He also served as an executive director of instruction in Alaska after getting his start as a teacher in New Orleans. Picou, a former Marine who joined AASA in 2014, earned his Ph.D. from the University of Southern Mississippi.

 


Joshua D. Smith
After six years serving as assistant superintendent, deputy superintendent and superintendent in New Milford, Conn., Joshua Smith has assumed the superintendency of Pomperaug Regional School District 15 in Southbury, Conn. Smith previously was director of information and technology in Ridgefield, Conn., and held various posts at Area Cooperative Educational Services in Hamden, Conn., including assistant director of professional development and school improvement. He began teaching in New Milford. Smith joined AASA in 2012.

Danna Diaz
The former superintendent of the 800-student San Juan Island, Wash., School District is the new superintendent of Reynolds School District in Fairview, Ore. Danna Diaz came to the Pacific Northwest from Texas, where she was assistant superintendent in El Paso and director of student engagement in Fort Worth. She also was a regional superintendent in Philadelphia and an elementary principal in several schools in Texas and Florida after starting as a bilingual teacher. Diaz, who earned a Ph.D. from University of Texas at Austin, has been a member of AASA since 2012.

The new superintendent in Kansas City, Kan., is Charles Foust, previously the chief school performance officer in Monroe, N.C. Foust also worked as an assistant superintendent, school support officer and principal in the Houston, Texas, Independent School District and as a principal and assistant principal in Guilford County, N.C. He began his career teaching at-risk students in Danville, Va. Foust earned his doctorate in professional leadership from the University of Houston. He joined AASA in 2017.
