State of the Superintendency
Changing Challenges
School Administrator, April 2018
What superintendents see as their sternest professional challenges changes over time. Gallup’s nationwide survey of superintendents identified several modified stances between 2013 and 2017.
The major changes were the steep declines in the percentage of superintendents who say rising assessment demands and revamping curriculum will be challenges for their school district.
Gallup researchers suggest the latter change could reflect that districts were adapting curriculum to meet Common Core standards at the time of the 2013 survey.
